About the Project
I worked with Divya Sheth Design Studio on Sudha Kunj, a modern renovation within a heritage art deco building in Tardeo. The design philosophy centered on modern luxury within a contemporary framework, while staying rooted in the building's history. The apartment's flooring, large ventilated rooms, and sweeping golf course views gave the space a rare sense of scale and character to work with.
The Brief
The brief was to document the space while honouring its art deco heritage. Only portions of the apartment had been renovated, with large sections left untouched, and styling throughout was minimal. This meant relying heavily on smart, deliberate framing to make each space read as complete and considered, rather than leaning on props or dressing to fill the frame.
The Approach
I did a recce ahead of the shoot, with several rounds of discussion on angles, styling, and how best to represent both the old and new elements of the apartment cohesively. Since the family was already living in the space, the entire shoot had to run tightly to schedule, working around their day rather than the other way around.
Their two toddlers also shadowed the shoot from start to finish, full of questions at every turn, adding a warm, lived-in energy to an otherwise carefully planned day.
Here's a walkthrough of the results.
