About the Project
I worked with Bharat Realty, a leading Mumbai-based real estate developer with over 24 years of experience specialising in premium residential and commercial spaces across the city's western suburbs, on an apartment building in Juhu, designed by Architect Reza Kabul and tucked among the neighbourhood's gulmohar-lined lanes. The building's design philosophy drew on Greek-inspired architecture, blended with an ultra-low-density vertical planning approach that set it apart from typical high-rise developments in the area.
The Brief
The brief was documentation of the building for marketing material. Two challenges shaped the shoot from the start. The first was purely logistical: finding the right vantage points to capture the exteriors meant scouting roughly 15 surrounding buildings to identify the best possible views.
The second was more of a creative sleight of hand, the building's wiring and electricity weren't yet complete, but one of the final shots needed it to look fully finished. The solution was to place halogen lights at a specific angle and colour temperature to simulate a completed, lived-in building, even though construction was only around 80% done.
The Approach
This shoot demanded meticulous planning down to the smallest detail, timing, the direction of natural light throughout the day, and permissions from nearby buildings all had to be worked out in advance. With only a narrow window each day offering the right light, the shoot was spread across two days, running two camera setups simultaneously to make the most of available light and capture multiple perspectives efficiently.
