About the Project
In 2025, I was commissioned to photograph Gokul Bite in Mumbai following its renovation by interior designer Divya Sheth.
Once a simple takeaway counter, the space has been reimagined as a spot to pause and grab a quick bite amid the bustle of Colaba, with a signature red brick wall carried through from the original restaurant to anchor its identity across the transformation.
The brief was to capture the smart use of colour and spatial planning, and, just as importantly, to make the contrast between the old and new space unmistakable.
The Approach
The shoot fell right in the middle of Ganpati festivities, with a pandal and heavy foot traffic right outside the restaurant. Working around the energy and unpredictability of the celebrations added a layer of technical and logistical challenge, but I made sure to still capture the space as calm, considered, and intentional, despite the chaos unfolding just beyond its walls. Here's a short walkthrough of the final results.
